America Hurrah by Jan Sandwich
To honor America on its 247th birthday and its armed forces, Jan Sandwich will perform at the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts, located at 210 Camp Lincoln Road, on Sunday, July 2. The FREE performance begins at 3:00 pm.
The spirited celebration will be filled with music, audience participation and terrific entertainment. Sing along with Jan and her talented musicians as they play classic songs by George M. Cohan like “Grand Old Flag” and “Yankee Doodle Boy.” Then, take a musical trip across our great country, with stops in New York, California, West Virginia, Chicago, Georgia and more. Along the way, they will pay tribute to each branch of the armed services, honor our veterans in the audience and hear popular songs from World Wars I and II.
If you’re looking for a great patriotic show, filled with music, comedy, audience participation and terrific entertainment, you will want to enjoy this rousing, spirited celebration of America.
Performers:
Jan Sandwich – Vocals
Jan has been a professional entertainer her entire life. She’s acted in movies, television and live theater with well-known celebrities Kurt Russell, Marie Osmond and Jamie Farr. She has provided voice talent for hundreds of radio commercials, done standup comedy in major clubs and her performances have showcased her talent as a singer. Jan has performed in hundreds of nightclubs and resorts throughout Arizona and California since 1975. Her musical journey includes two years as a “Barnstormer” at the Windmill Dinner Theater and multiple appearances at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and the Avalon Ballroom on Catalina Island. She’s worked with musical combinations that range from a single keyboardist to a 22-piece orchestra.
Mike Smith – Piano/Keyboard
Mike has performed throughout the northeast and the southwest in various bands, tribute shows, and dueling pianos. He composes music for TV, theatre, and corporate clients. Mike has taught piano, songwriting, sound, and recording at Arizona Conservatory for Arts & Academics for the last 18 years. He also performs in an Elton John/Billy Joel tribute show.
Charles Bulla – Drums
Originally from Northern California, Charles has played professionally since 1972. His performances on a classical percussion and drum set, include working with talents such as: Little Richard, Marlena Shaw, saxophonist Plas Johnson, jazz flutist Sam Most, Bassist John Patitucci, arranger Nelson Riddle, and composer Aaron Copeland. Charles has also collaborated and performed on commercials, demos and sound clips for CNN, Fox Television, TVN, Denise Williams and Anita Baker.
