Uptown Big Band
The real thing in an updated package, the Uptown Big Band is a 13 piece vintage jazz orchestra with saxophones, trumpets, trombones, full rhythm section and vocalists performing standards from the WWII Era to the present, and swing music from around the world. Talented vocalist Sara Libby works with the band to light up the stage with rhythm and pizzazz. Swing dancers Julie Roman and Jacob Spinney entertain alongside the band. The band also features short film clips of some of its tunes performed by the original artists and then morphs into the same song live and on stage.
Uptown’s repertoire is influenced by Natalie Cole, Linda Ronstadt, Michael Buble, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Pink Martini, Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick, Jr., Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, and uses original scores to its own arrangements.
Uptown has performed at a variety of venues throughout Arizona, including in Tucson, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Prescott, Sedona and returns to the Verde Valley for the 4th time.
Doors open at 2:25 pm at the Phillip England Center. The concert begins at 3:00 pm. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door for $20. Students are admitted free of charge.
